ownership

Property is a social relationship. Whoever is the owner of something determines who will be excluded from using this thing. Here are a few ideas of how to shape ownership relations from a commons-perspective:

- Everything is appropriable but Some things should be unqualified for appropriation (work, land, knowledge)

- Common Property is Private Property but not Individual Property

- Possession (possessio) is different from Property/Ownership (dominium). Possession breaks Property.

- Long lasting Common Property regimes require Individual Possession (use rights)

- Commons need to own themselves
