Open Workshops (in German: Offene Werkstätten) offer space for encounters and community-building, allow for collective thinking and learning (symmathesy) and inspire to concern ourselves more with societal challenges. One of the first open workshop in Germany, was founded by the Anstiftung (html ) in 1987: the Haus der Eigenarbeit in Munich. Open workshops are open for untrained as well as semiprofessionals and cooperate with artists and education institutes.
An Open Workshop is distinct from a Maker Space.
